The Netherlands is well known for its canals and vibrant tulip fields. Also celebrates a variety of cultural festivals that provide insight into its rich traditions and past experiences. From the Kings Day celebration, to the Utrecht Early Music Festival Dutch festivals showcase a range of traditions and the welcoming spirit of the community.
Dutch festivals wouldn't be complete, without Kings Day on April 27th. A tribute to King Willem Alexanders birthday where the streets light up in orange hues and people of all backgrounds join in the fun with flea markets and lively events like street performances and boat gatherings! Likewise, on May 5th is Liberation Day when the whole country comes together for concerts and festivities to celebrate freedom!
Apart, from the known festivals in the Netherlands; there are smaller local gatherings that truly capture the essence of Dutch culture. The Cheese Market in Almkaar provides an insight, into cheese trading practices; whereas the contemporary Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) highlights the nations innovative electronic music scene.
